More about Alada Remembrance...

Alada Remembrance was added to our farm after the death of my close friend, Sherri Graves of Grand West Arabians.  I talked with Sherri many times regarding her purchase of this mare, which steamed from my glowing reviews of my mare Alektra that shares the same sire line.  However, "Remy" brings something new and special to our farm:  a Russian bred dam side and tons of substance.  I thank her prior owner, Carol Cooper-Hall of Rembrance Arabians, for allowing me to bring this fine mare to my farm to enjoy.

SIRE:  Alada Baskin, Sire Line:  Polish, Kuhailan Haifi

"Remy" is sired by Alada Baskin.  Born in 1982 and deceased in 2006, this stallion proved himself as both a show horse and a sire.  Alada Baskin was a US National Reserve Champion Stallion (1986 & 1990), US National Top Ten Stallion (1992), and a Buckeye Champion Stallion (1990).  He then became the senior stallion at Ventura Arabians with a final stud fee of $4,000, and sired multiple national champions in halter and performance.  His most prominent sons include Allionce+/, Legacy of Gold (1995 US National Champion Stallion), Alada Baskin I (four top tens in stallion halter at US and Canadian Nationals, US National Futurity Top Ten Colt, and Canadian Reserve Champion Stallion), and Bugacci (US and Canadian National Champion in hunter pleasure open, amateur, and youth).

These stallions are of the popular Polish Kuhailan Haifi sire line, noted for consistently siring exceptional conformation, long well-set necks, dry chiseled heads, athletic ability, and good and trainable minds.  Kuhailian Haifi was the most important of the original imported stallions from Arabia to Poland in 1931.  He made his most important contribution through his son Ofir 1933, called "the best stallion of the inter war period and the regenerator of the race".  In 1938, he sired the 3 great 'W' stallions Witraz, Witez II, and Wielki Szlem; he also sired the great mares Wilga and Ofirka.  His son Witraz was a special looking horse much like his sire, and routinely passed his looks onto his get.  He sired three sons of major influence; but also sired 27 mares selected for use in the Polish studs, of which six became dams of leading sires.  His son, Nureddin 1953, spent his early years as a circus horse, but was later discovered and imported to Sweden.  His biggest achievement was simply siring the great *Aladdinn, 1978 Swedish National Champion, 1979 US National Champion, and Leading sire of National Champions.

DAM:  Mustiskka, Dam line: Polish, Sahara 1887 via Mamonna RASB 1939

Alada Remembrance is out of primarily Russian bred mare, Mustiskka (pictured left).  In 1990, she was shown briefly to class A halter championships.  Alada Remembrance was her only foal.  She is sired by the great Russian import, *Muscat (1971-1996, pictured right).  Born in 1971 at Russia's Tersk Stud, he was the youngest stallion to ever be used for breeding there.  He was imported to the US 1978 by Howard Kale Jr.  In 1980, he became the first Arabian stallion to become a "Triple Crown Champion" (winning Scottsdale Champion, Canadian National Champion, and US National Champion stallion in the same year), and then went on to become the breed's 4th leading producer of all time.  He is from the Ibrahim sire line.  Ibrahim was imported to Poland by Count Potocki.  His most important son, Skowronek, was born at Antoniny, Poland in 1909 and later imported to England in 1913 where he stood stud at Crabbet Stud in 1920.  He sired Naseem, who in 1936 was purchased for $1 million by Terska Stud (Russia).  This Siglavi type stallion produced long arched necks, thin throatlatches, and high trots.  His son, Negatiw, was born in 1945.  He too stood stud at Tersk stud where he sired 105 foals (including the great stallions *Salon, *Bandos, and *Nabor), won two races, and was the 1954 All Union Exhibition Champion stallion.  *Salon was known as a producer of beautiful mares, was 1971 All Union Exhibition Reserve Champion stallion, was raced to a 1-5-3 of 19 starts, and was later sold to West Germany in 1971 and then onto America in 1980.   His best two sons were *Muscat and Moment, who were out of the athletic Priboj daughter, Malpia.  She was the full sibling to Pomeranets (1955 & 1960 All Union Exhibition Champion stallion, Chief sire of Koheilan Adjuze sire line at Tersk in 1957, sire of stakes winner and record holder Leopard and record holder Lopushok), Monopolia (dam of Monogramma), and Metropolia (dam of Menes).  Here is a pictorial of this sire line:

Mustisska is out of primarily Russian mare, *Pavlinka AVS (1980-1994), who was imported from the Netherlands in 1980.  Once in America, she was bred to *Muscat three times, which also produced  Petrovkka (1992 Buckeye Champion mare, 1992 US Top Ten mare, 2003 Scottsdale Top Five mare).  Her sire, Numizmat (1974), was Russian bred with a Saklawi I (to Aswan and Nazeer) sire line and lines to Amurath-Sahib and Priboj, and was later imported to Belgium, then Holland, and finally Germany.  An international champion, he left 275 foals.  Her dam is Belgium-bred Rifisa, who was sired by Ghibli (Crabbet) and out Nefisa (Russian) bred Salon x Neposeda by Priboj x Nomenklatura (Naseem x Mammona).   So you can see that Alada Rembrance has a dam side with multiple crosses to Priboj, Salon, and Mammona!

This dam line goes down to Polish import Sahara, the third of the original imports to Jarczowcw.  After World War II, only two mares of this line were in existance, which included Pomponia 1902.  She produced two daughters; one being Dora 1922, who was taken by the Russians in 1939 and was the dam of Omar II and Krucica 1929.  Krucica was a very good mare, whose daughter Mammona RASB 1939 by super sire Ofir PASB became a foundation broodmare for Tersk stud (Russia) and dam of 18.  Her daughter Nomenktlatura RASB 1943 was sired by the great Naseem RASB (by Showronek GSB by Ibrahim PASB) and was the dam of 15.   Next was Neposeda RASB 1955, sired by athletic Priboj RASB ; she was the dam of 12.  Her daughter by Salon RASB, Nefisa 1966, was also born at Tersk Stud, but then imported to the Netherlands in 1970 and then to Germany in 1985; she was the dam of 15.  Her daughter by Crabbet-bred Ghibli, Rifisa AVS 1975, was born in Belgium; she was the dam of 10 and was later imported to the US in 1980.  Carried into the US in utero, Rifisa's daughter *Pavlinka was born in 1980; her sire was Russian-bred Numizmat AVS.  She was bred to *Muscat three times, which resulted in a stallion (Pavlovsk, deceased at 3 yrs) and two mares (Petrovkka and Mustiskka).   Both mares were halter champions.  This is a very production dam line with a lot of athleticism and substance built into it.
